Important

Colour is not a health test. During sudden behavioural change or losses, first check water quality, oxygen provision and recent additions.

Care in practice

Water parameters and stability

The colour form has no separately established water recipe. Use supported Neocaridina husbandry guidance and compare conditions with the offered stock. A trade name or colour grade does not establish extra tolerance.

Background and identification

Choosing and following orange stock

Colour ranges from translucent orange to fuller pumpkin-orange coverage. Compare mature animals from the same group and ask about variation among young. A paler male is not automatically ill.

Garnelenhaus describes breeding lines in which Green Jade arose from orange selections, with examples of combined groups. This does not guarantee that unknown orange and green shrimp share that history. To preserve predictable orange offspring, keep a known strain separately and follow several generations. No separate RO requirement or supplement is established for orange colour.

For full care, use the Neocaridina davidi profile. Check water, filtration, food access and space for the colony before buying.
